In South Africa I met a lot of interesting people. But one person stood out. Vicky was a older women who lived in a township. Even though every one around her was living in poverty she found a way to bring people to her township and show them what a community really is. Vicky runs a bed and breakfast in the middle of a township that would be considered to be at the extreme poverty level. Until I met Vicky I was always scared of people who had less than I did because I always thought they would try to steal things or be mean just because I was more fortunate. But after listening to her I realized it doesn’t matter how poor you , or your area is, there will always be a sense of community.
What amazed me the most is how committed Vicky is to her job. When we went into her bed and breakfast, I was astonished at how nice the rooms were, they were nicer then mine. Vicky is famous because of her bed and breakfast and everyone in her township looks up to, and respects her. She inspired me, she taught me that anything is possible if you just put your mind to it.
